FORT LOWDERDALE, Florida (AP). A 28-year-old man, awaiting sentencing on attempted murder charges, threw urine at a prosecutor in a Florida courtroom, police said.
The attack took place Wednesday in the courtroom of Broward District Judge Susan Alspector. Albert Narvaez is now also charged with the assault on Broward’s Assistant Attorney General Andrew Newman.
Sheriff Broward’s arrest report says urine got into Newman’s mouth and all over his clothes. The report does not say which container Narvaez used to store urine in the courtroom.
The Miami Herald reports that Narvaez attacked Newman, threw urine at him and shouted, “He told me to do it!” He did not say who he was referring to.
The hearing of the verdict was postponed.
Chief Assistant State Attorney Jeff Marcus said they were “absolutely outraged” by the incident.
