VERO BEACH, Florida. A fishing fight is causing a wave on the internet after a man claimed a Vero Beach woman sprayed him with a hose and told him he couldn’t fish near her house because she owns water, CBS reports. 12 News.
Jose Ortiz, who is from New Jersey but lives in Melbourne, told WPEC-TV that he regularly fish along the A1A state road, south of Sebastian’s Bay, and has never experienced any problems.
He said he was on public property last week when Joyce Khatibi, a nearby landlady, started yelling at him.
Khatibi told WPEC-TV that Ortiz had invaded through several holdings and fished from the shore.
In the video, Ortiz asked Khatibi if she owned all the water at the pier. She said yes. ”
She then grabbed the hose and started pouring water on Ortiz, although she claims she did not spray it directly.
The Indian River County sheriff’s deputy was summoned to the scene and asked Ortiz to leave after reviewing property records online.
WPEC-TV reported that Khatibi’s property line is not sinking, unlike its neighbors.
Ortiz said he plans to file a complaint against Khatibi.
