August 9 Florida man shoots Facebook friend in buttocks

(RNN) – We’ve all seen or may have been involved in political controversy on Facebook.

This is usually just an endless exchange of catchy phrases or memes in the hopes that others will click “like” to show their agreement.

Maybe one person makes a mistake and makes a typo, turning their intellect into fair play to the point of being insulted.

As meaningless as these exchanges are, they usually remain in the comment section. But one Facebook argument left the world wide web on Tuesday and turned into gun violence in Tampa. Florida’s election department identifies Sebring as a registered Democrat, but it is not known exactly which political topic caused such fierce controversy.

According to local media reports, the affidavit stated that Stevens sent explicit messages and threats to Sebring, prompting him to report to his home with a Glock compact semi-automatic pistol and an AR-15 carbine.

Investigators told the WFLA that Sebring summoned Stevens from his home by signaling. Stevens responded by charging at Sebring,

Police said that was when Sebring opened fire. He fled the scene, but later surrendered to the police.

Police told WTVT that 44-year-old Brian Sebring went to his Facebook friend’s home and shot him twice over a political controversy they had on the Internet.

The victim, identified as 46-year-old Alex Stevens, was wounded in the buttocks and thigh.
